LIBRARIANS’ INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROTECTION OF COPYRIGHT IN NIGERIA.
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the librarians involvement in the protection of copyright in Nigeria. The
study adopted a descriptive survey design. Questionnaire was the primary tool used for data
collection. The study population consisted of 63 professional librarians from the five selected
universities in Ogun State. A total of 49 questionnaires were retrieved out of 63 administered
and given a response rate of 77.8%. It was found that librarians are aware of the provisions of
copyright law and take some measures to prevent its infringement. It was recommended among
others that librarians should be more intentional in ensuring that copyright is not violated in the
library by engaging all available measures to ensure compliance.
