AN ASSESSMENT OF RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND RETENTION PROCESS WITH THE CHALLENGES IN SMALL INDUSTRIES IN AKWA IBOM STATE.
ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to understand the extent of challenges facing recruitment, selection and
retention process in small industries in Akwa Ibom State. To carry out the study one objective
was formulated. The study was descriptive survey research design while the sample size of 149
operatives of small industries were used as respondents. Data collection was done through a a
research questionnaire. Data analysis was done using frequencies, percentages and cumulative
percentages. The findings of the study revealed that small industries in Akwa Ibom State lack
effective recruitment, selection and retention process and this is threatening their human
resource management. One of the recommendations was that there is need for the government to
intervene and come up with effective strategic human resource policy that can support
recruitment, selection and retention process in small industries.
